I wish you would have gottan the help you needed after you got out of the military, but I will never forget the night of October 31, 2008, when I found out what happened to you. "A Poem for Christmas (found by Ronni)

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

'What are you doing?' I asked without fear,
'Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!'

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said 'Its really all right, I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night.'

'It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.

My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,'
Then he sighed, 'That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers.'

My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..

Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.'
'So go back inside,' he said, 'harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right.'

'But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
'Give you money,' I asked, 'or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son.'

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
'Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.

For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

"November 19, 2008
Piestewa Family and friends of Lori Piestewa.....
My name is SSG Wurster, I was a part of the 11th ada brigade, 5-52 ada battalion when lori's life was taken. I heard about the news only hours later. There is no words that can describe the pain and sorrow I feel for the family and friends of Lori's on a daily basis. I never personally known Lori, but I had seen her in the motorpool several times prior to our deployement. I wish I had actually been a part of the convoy, to either prevent this incident from happening, and quite possibilly gave my life in replace for hers. I hope that the spirits may watch over you from above. God Bless every one. You Will Never Be Forgotten Lori!"
SSG Wurster, Justin of El Paso, Tx/USA

"Veterans Day, 2008

A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.''

Thank you, brave soldiers, and May God Bless you families...."

"I know life is hard and we think its not fair. I understand exactly how you feel I hope you arent mad at me because i love you like a sister and I hope you see me as a sister to. I never got to tell Cowboy that I loved him and that hurts me so much because i was so scared that he would say that he didn't feel the same way and now I'll never know. I hope you and your mom understand me. Trust me I wish we would of talked about our feelings before then maybe I would feel a little better knowing that he loved me to. "The soldiers do not speak. Nevertheless, they are heard in the still houses: who has not heard them? They have a silence that speaks for them at night and when the clock counts. They say: We are young. We have died. Remember us. They say: We have done what we could but until it is finished it is not done. They say: We have given our lives but until it is finished no one can know what our lives gave. They say: Our deaths are not ours: they are yours they will mean what you make them. They say: Weather our lives and our deaths are for peace and a new hope or for nothing we cannot say: it is you who must say this. They say: We leave you our deaths. Give them their meaning. Chewin' on a piece of grass walkin' down the road
tell me, how long you gonna stay here Joe?
Some people say this town don't look good in snow
You don't care, I know.

Ventura Highway, in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger than moonshine
You're gonna go I know

Cause the free wind is blowin' through your hair
and the day surround your daylight there
Seasons cryin' no despair
Alligator lizards in the air

Wishin' on a fallin' star
Watchin' for the early train
Sorry boy, but I've been hit by purple rain
Aw, come on Joe, you can always change your name
Thanks alot son, just the same

Ventura Highway, in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger than moonshine!
you're gonna go, I know

Cause the free wind is blowin' through your hair

"Today was my son's 21st birthday but he wasn't able to enjoy it. He was killed in Iraq on May 11, 2006 at the age of 18. There is never a day goes by that I do not think of him of the members of his unit that are over there now. To all the Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters and other family members, my your hero's star shine bright above the rest and the tears of pain ease as time passes on. It doesn't seem to get any easier for me but I know my son died for what he believed in. I love you and miss you with all my heart Stevie. Love, Mom

"Sgt Kennon i am almost afraid to leave this message. I think of you often. That day changed me alot internally. I really missed having you there to talk too through the rest of the deployment. You were a kind and very thoughtful friend. I only wish we could have hung out like we had planned. I ran away from this subject so long because every event of that day replays in my mind and it is hard to hold back anger and tears of a loss of not only a freind but a brother, brother in arms. I pray that the lord will ease the pain of your family members and often wished i could have taken your place as of many others. All i remember after comming back from the mission was the look of everyones face. And giving Doc Crews a hug. We all still remember you and can't wait to see you at the gates. I still relive that day every once in a while but then I remember all the great things you said to me that made sense and still do to this day. You were a great man of faith in God. And that thought alone has helped me cope with those feelings of emptyness.

Your friend,

Charles Butcher

God gives you a peace from all understanding, strenght for the day and wisdom for a new day."
Charles Butcher of Houston, Tx

"My prayers go out to the family of Charles. I went to school with Charles and graduated with him in 1999. He nicknamed me "Peachfuzz" and I nicknamed him "Forehead". I will never forget that silly name. To those who never knew him, you have truly missed a blessed person. To his family, I will continue to pray for you. Many blessings to you all."
Andrea (Ferguson) White of Columbus, Ohio

"America's fallen shall never be lost treasure. America's fallen is our only treasure. As I read through the comments herein I am at a loss for the words I need to know in order to adequately express my feelings. The words "thank you" to a family member who's son, daughter, father, mother, sister or brother has made the ultimate sacrafice...seems so routine and cliche. Let us honor them by insuring that their lives sacraficed was for not, nor in vain! Let us keep their memories alive by finishing the fight, spreading the word about how they believed in the cause and that by defeating our enemies in the GWOT is honor enough! We are the next greatest generation and what we do today will evidence in the future that we acted without malice, without personal agendas...we acted because it was the right thing to do? Rise up America in November and let John McCain get it done!"
Martin L. Hudler of Lake Oswego, Oregon

"We will not allow those who have given all to be dishonored or forgotten by those of us still here this November. Vote McCain and you'll be voting for the memory of Brandon, and so many others sacraficing everything so that you and I can enjoy all that they provide for us!"
Martin L. Hudler of Lake Oswego, Oregon

"I lost my husband during this war effort
and I offer my condolences to all
grieving relatives and friends of
those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. I pray for
all who are grieving and suffering!"

"My Father was retired Maj. Dennis B. Dray, he left the "Low Flight" message. My father passed away very unexpectedly on July 17th. My father loved our country and all the men and women who fought to defend it. I wantd you to know who my dad was. He enlisted right out of high school and was immediately sent to Viet Nam and served multiple terms. Upon his return, he enlisted in the USNRG in Waterloo, IA until he was transferrred via TDY at the Arizona ARNG Flight Training Facility in Marana. Arizona. My father retired in March of 2000. My father made it his mission that no soldier ever went forgotten, and now, in his honor, I will do this for him. Godspeed to all those my father would have reached out to. You are in our thoughts and prayers, just as you would have been in my fathers. Our thoughts and prayers to all the family members out there of fallen angels trying to make sense of this all. We are doing the same. You are in our thoughts and prayers daily. God bless you and God Bless America! Love from Iowa!"
Tina Higgins - Daughter of Maj. Dennis B. Dray (Ret) of Waterloo, Iowa USA

"I was a Corpsman when the Navy had wooden ships and iron men. Well almost I served from 1964-70. I too was stationed with the fine fighting men of the US Marine Corp. I would not want to fight with any others. "Doc" Johnson has given his all for the very freedoms we all seem to take for granted some times. He gave of his life freely so that others are free, he is the ultimate American. He also is in fine company with others who have sacrificed everything for the sake of others.

Excuse me for saying this because I am still a corpsman after all of these years, it takes a special kind of man or woman to be a Corpsman. When it's all said and done, he will be there to greet us, keep the faith."
Frank B. Fox Jr. HM2 1964-70 of Lake Jackson, Texas

"I am a 28yr. old American male and I am so thankful for the men and women willing to sacrifice for our country. There is a huge disconnect between the civilian population and the military population when it comes to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is impossible for us on the outside to understand the commitment and sacrifices that you and your families have made for us and those around the world so that we and they may have the chance to experience freedom bought with blood. I just recently read a book, Final Salute, it allowed me in the most minute way to realize how massive a debt of gratitude and prayer I owe all those who have sacrificed so much. Thank you, My prayers are with you and yours."
Jeremy Hansen of Allentown PA USA

"I'd like to let all visitors to this site know about an event taking plce on Saturday, June 14 (Flag Day) in Topeka, Kansas called The Reading. Volunteers will be reading the names of the fallen from Iraq and Afghanistan. We'll each be reading a page of 50 names - first name, middle initial, last name, date of death and home state. After each name a bell will toll. The event is expected to take approximately 6 hours to complete. It's important the families and friends know of this event in memory of their loved one. Your loved one and friend has not been forgotten. My condolences to all of you grieving the loss of your loved one.

"Never too late to extend heartfelt condolences to the family of a fallen hero, perhaps even a distant family member--as family roots originate in southern Texas. As the mother of a Marine, I know the unsettling feeling of uncertainly and constant concern for loved ones.
My brother/firefighter, John Alaniz from Chicago, has also left his regards on this page. Furthermore, he is an artist and has created memorials for his "firefighter brothers" lost in the Sept. 11 tragedies.
The journey has been long and hard, but our nation shall prevail through the selfless acts of bravery and dedication of our front line heroes. God bless."

"Clint Prather we miss you very much. This is one of many stories. I remember when you got your first car as a junior in high school and how happy you were. You made payments on it but it was yours. Your stepdad asked you if you knew how to check the oil and you pop up yes I know!!!!! Well it wasn't long before your car came limping home and asked Dave what could be wrong? Dave asked have you been checking the oil? Oh yes it is still full!!!!!
Well Dave went outside with you and asked you to show him how you checked it. You showed him but it was the wrong dip stick, it was to the transmission. Dave showed you where the oil stick was and when he pulled it out, it was bone dry. Well you ended up with another bill for a rebuild engine. It was a hard way to learn but later we had a good laugh about it. Our memories of you will never dim. You are in our hearts. It still is hard to believe that you have been gone almost 3 years April 6th 2008.
Love you

In fact I picked him up at Newark Airport and returned him to the Academy when he visited his parents during his Cadet years. "Lt. Walker, because of the circumstances that took place while we both served abroad with the same company out of Ft. Lewis, I never told you how much you inspired me to be a better person.

What I mean is, when our company advanced forward on other missions, your platoon stayed behind for other missions, and during that period you converted the old Medic Room into a dayroom for your troops. Even though there was already a morale tent available, you decided to establish a morale room closer to your troops. Because of your dedication to your troop’s well being, is why you were different from other leaders in our unit or in the military as a whole.

I know you knew how bad the morale was for the troops serving under a failed leadership in 864th. But, regardless of what some leaders out 864th were doing, you chose to make a difference by leading by example of how a leader should lead there troops during combat.

If it wasn't for my mistakes and the circumstances that were before me while serving abroad in combat, I would not have seen what you did before you departed from us. I did not know you as much as your troops knew you but of the time I did get to know you, like I said you inspired me and showed me not all leaders out 864th are ate up to the toe up. I was very bitter about what our command were doing to the morale and of what they were doing to themselves.

That is one reason why I donated my T.V. I bought for me at first and left at the Morale Room you established for your troops, and also that is why I honored you at the memorial service that took place in Bagram Air Field.

To the Walker family, I hope this message has brought some understanding of what took place while your daughter was serving abroad in combat with honor.

Lt. Walker, I will miss you always and you will never be forgotten!

Thank you so much for what you have done for your country, troops, and family and friends!

Respectfully,

SGT. Sanders"

"Dear Mrs.& Mr. Baker,
My name is Zainab and I'm from Iraq. Yesterday I was watching TV and it was showing a documentary movie about the victims of this war and part of it was talking about your son. This movie also talked about your sadness and it showed the picture of your son. At that moment I cried and cried a lot. You lost a son and I lost so many young ppl in my family and now we have so many orphans.
I do share you your sadness and your pain and I do understand how you feel.
I'm so sorry and I do pray for his soul and we all know that it was not him nor you it was BUSH the devil behind your sadness and ours.
I will pray for his soul and I will pray for both of you my dear.
If you feel talking to someone from Iraq I would be more than happy to provide my phone number via e-mail as well. zainab.alkhazraji@gmail.com
By the way if things will be fine one day in Iraq and if you wish to visit Iraq I will be more than happy to welcome you.
I'm currently living and working in Dubai but I have a hope that I'll go home one day. I miss my country too much.
Thanks for reading my msg and my Allah bless you all and his soul."

"To whom it may concern.
My name is Kevin Morgan and I am a singer/songwriter from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
After 911 and the war started I wrote a tribute song called "FALLEN HEROES" in honor of our
fallen soldiers, police, and firemen who have lost their lives serving our great country.
Fallen Heroes has recieved radio airplay in our tri-state area and was the #1 requested song on WISH radio
for 2 months. Also, Fallen Heroes was performed in Washington D.C. for the Vice President, and was used
for 2 anniversary dedication ceremonies at crash site of 'Flight 93' in Shanksville Pa.
In the past i have used my talent and resources to raise money for numerous charities and events and in
my small way have tried to due my part to help at least a little. Currently I am turning my efforts to the Wounded Warrior Project
and am going to use Fallen Heroes to try and raise funds for this organization.
While listening to your show it occured to me that if you could take 3 minutes of your time to play the song for your listeners
it may drive traffic to the website that I have constructed for this purpose.
While there, they may purchase a copy of Fallen Heroes and help me in my efforts.
With your help and perhaps the support of your listeners we can make a difference in the lives of
our returning soldiers and reassure them that because of them "Our flag still flies for freedom in this land
that we all love, and all our Fallen Heroes still defend us from above".

To listen to "FALLEN HEROES" go to www.myspace.com/kevinmorgancountry and the song will automatically start playing.
If you wish to know a little more about me please read my 'Bio' on the site.
I can be contacted days at (724-845-3398)

Thank you

Sincerely,
Kevin Morgan"

"Darkness drags my soul into the silent waters of death as demons dance around the lake of death like an uncontrolled wildfire.

My cord to sanity has been severed and I surrender to the nothingness of me.

Blood pours on the black pavement of hell because death decided to play.

Forever ends with me. I'm scared of living and embrace death's playful grip.

HIS DADDY WIL WANTED HIM TO BE NAMED AFTER HIM AS WELL. YOUR PICTURE OF YOU BY YOUR HELICOPTER HANGS ON THE WALL BY HIS CRIB. "Two soldiers showed up this morning to tell my sister that her son had died. He was 21 years old. He was a casualty of war in Iraq. It's only a few hours later and we don't know the details. He was a soldier and now he is a hero. There are no words and I don't understand why. We will take care of each other here. But I just don't understand and I can't stop crying for him. I know time will heal and help. It began snowing this afternoon. Within a few hours of us learning that you were no longer with us. It doesn't snow much in Georgia. It's 7 PM and it's still snowing. I believe it is angels crying in heaven. I pray for you and I pray you are home now. I pray for your mom and our family. I pray for your comrades. I pray you are at peace and smiling. We will put our faith in God and he will let us know that you are okay now. We love you and we will always be here for you. 1/16/08
I pray for the safe return of all of the soldiers still fighting in this war and I will continue to believe in our efforts and support our troops - in memory of John and the many other fallen heroes. God Bless us all."

"Years have passed, but it seems only like yesterday. You're gone from our eyes, but in our hearts you'll stay. We look at your son and see you in his face. Sitting by God, you're in your rightful place. A family, a wife a son - left behind. But never, no never are you far from our minds. You'll be always remembered and honored wherever, and through friends and strangers forever and ever.

As a mom of a son who was in the Air Force, I wish you peace and hope that you find joy in all the fond memories that you share."

I know that he sacrifaced himself for the safety of our country. He was truly a decidacated Coastie. I love him so much! and I miss him. I've met his daughter Harper only once when she was first born for I live so far away, but the moment I saw her I immediatly saw Nate, at this point people would say I loved him, as in the past, but I still love him and I always will, so Nate, I love you so much, and I hope you'll be waiting for me with open arms the day I come to heaven.

"On this Thanksgiving, I just want to thank the families of our brave fallen heros. My heart breaks for your loss, yet as a stranger to you I still feel the most sincere love, respect and admiration for your sons and daughters who gave the ultimate sacrifice for me, my family and this nation.

These brave young men and women were the best young people in this country. It makes me angry that they lost their lives, so that the ill-informed anti-war protestors can continue to spew their stupidity from the safety of their Marxist Universities. But I guess that is price of Freedom.

God bless you all. Know that your loss is not in vain and is appreciated by Americans who still care about this nation.

Thank you."

"Fernando, I have read some of your messages and think that it is great you still do this. I know you how much you miss your brother and how bad it hurts. Justice and him were very close. Too bad he never got close to his own son. I think that it is great that you named your son after him. That is a great tribute. He will be missed forever and always in the hearts of the ones who loved him. You two were so close. He would tell me that when he was living with you, you two fought all the time. It must be because you were so much alike. Roxanne brought out the best in him. I use to think that when he came back he was going to get to know his son and be apart of his life. I am glad you get to see him and spend the time with him that G didn't. Don't ever forget what he gave up for you!

Roxanne, i am sorry for your loss. I haven't had the nerve to write anything before and I am sorry for that. My condolences to you and I hope after 4 years it is getting a little easier. I know you two were soul mates and he will never be replaced in your heart. You brought out the best in him. God knows he wasn't the best person before you. But a hero with you! But as it ends we look back and remember the good things that have been accomplished and acheived and thank god that he put G into our lives. I hope you are doing well.

Now that the anniversary of the day you were taken is coming up fast I have been thinking and wishing you were still here. For your wife, for your son and for your family. God rest your soul."

He served with pride and I had put a memorial for him on here along time ago.
He always said, serve our Lord, our country and care for your family.
Never count the time apart, count the time together..
God Bless all the men and women serving our country, may God Bless you and keep you safe in his arms, where you can come home safe too your family..
I hear the taps playing in my mind and what a beautiful sound..
Fly your American flag everyday and never let the sun go down on her and a light on her at night..

"ONE LAST THING
By Dondee Barrick

Dirty blankets all filled with sand
Sleeping with one eye open...gun in hand
How I can't wait to leave this land
To see those faces back home again
A girl's on the way...so I'm told
When I see her she'll be 6 months old
Yet as I lay here in this same sand
God is telling me of another plan
So here I am, Katie Sky
Face to face, eye to eye
I was sent here to see you first
To spend time with you
Before the day of your birth
I am your father, but don't be sad
Though I won't be able
to hold your hand
I will always be your dad
People will tell you about how I was
The funny things I did when I was young
And how you are just like me
except, of course, you're more girly
As you grow, continue to know that I'll be there...
When you laugh or cry...I'll be there
When your happy or sad...I'll be there
On your first day of school...I'll be there
I will be there to warm you, guide you,
protect you, and love you always
So, now it's time for you to go
Just as it was my time to come Home
Keep your head high, be proud and love life
You know I'll be watching from this side...
my darlin' baby girl...
Oh yeah...one last thing before you go
You've got two good brothers to look after you
and a wonderful mother to care for you
And there may be times when mom feels sad
and starts to cry
Just hug her and kiss her,
tell her you love her and that Daddy says, "Hi."""

"In Remembering our Heroes, let us not give up the fight. We are now the warriors for the fallen. Remember the quote that goes something like, "The pen is mightier than the sword?" Make sure you always write or say what you can so that these fine Heroes as President Lincoln said in his Gettysburg address, "...That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain..." God Bless all of our fallen warriors. May we be as mighty in the battle against our enemies as they were."

"My brother died almost four years ago serving our country and so I truely know that pain and pride every familly member and friend of a fallen soldier feels. I also find it very disheartening that not everyone understands or appreciates the sacrifice that all our service members endure. Some give all, but all give some! Recently I discovered a song by Lonestar that makes me cry everytime I hear it but also gives me hope, that there are still people in this country that know the extreem sacrifice that every soldier gives for our freedom. The songs title is Somebody's Someone and I ask everyone to listen to this song...even if you do not like or listen to country music...even if you are afraid that it will make you cry too, and especially if you DO or DO NOT personally know someone that has died serving our country. If you like the song and it's message please pass the song's name onto others, because it has a very important message and it was "buried" on thier cd, I've never even heard it on the radio.

I just want to thank all the service members who have ever given thier time and especially the ones that have given thier life serving our country and protecting my freedom. THANK YOU ALL!!!"

"SPC Aaron Forbes...will be missed dearly. When I first came to 1-67 AR he was the first person I met. Aaron was such a jokster and a great person. I got to know Aaron for about 2 years before we deployed. Aaron I will miss you dearly. I was assigned with you through gunnery and all the field problems. Your antics and jokes helped me get use to 1-67's harsh antics. We became good friends and I will miss you dearly. I am volunteering for another deploymet assignment now....your family helped us thoroughout the deployment and I am volunteering to go back now. Aaron....when I go back.... believe me... I will avenge you. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. Any family members of Aaron Forber (esp. immediate family members) please feel free to contact me)"

"The Third Floor
All generations unfold,
and time seems to stand still,
as it waits for another fallen soldier
up here on the third floor.
For some life just seems to fade away slowly,
while others just slip away in a moment.
Then there are those who are fortunate to go home,
and those who have made this their home
up here on the third floor.
And yet!
We also see comrades,
Even if their paths cross for the first time,
Prove that the bond which only soldiers share,
Can still hold strong
Up here on the third floor.
Then when we see in amazement,
an aged unfortunate soldier,
appreciate his life,
and then feel bad for those who are less fortunate.
We cannot compare ourselves,
for the true meaning of a soldier's heart
is deeply shown
up here on the third floor.
When we see these fighting soldiers
set aside their dignity,
Accept the help they need,
without the feeling of defeat,
they define the true meaning of a soldier's inner strength
up here on the third floor.
When an almost helpless soldier who just seems to shine
throws a glowing smile your way,
it is meant for you to catch.
If you catch it with your heart,
You are beyond blessed,
For this is a true gesture of one's pride given to you,
From someone so very special
Up here on the third floor.
Even now when age and health issues are catching
Up to these brave soldiers,
and they share unbelievable stories with us about
past experiences,
we cannot help but have deep emotions of respect.
For they show us the true meaning of courage
then and now.
Up here on the third floor.
We see fully aware but cannot move,
we see some staring into space,
we see some who are just ready to go.
We see some who are just function with routine,
and those who really don't know what's next.
We see those who are terminal, but enjoy each day they have.
We see those who just deal with the situation,
we see those who display how proud they are of themselves,
we see those who seem happy all the time
and those who, plain and simple, love seeing others has fun.
We see all sorts,
so we shall continue to serve them,
as we are honored and proud
to be part of their lives
up here on the third floor.
When we are with these wounded soldiers day after day,
and share kind caring moments together,
we develop so many small relationships,
So many different relationships,
for these times are treasured.
We hope and look forward to having another moment with them
up here on the third floor.
Sometimes we will see soldiers that are very concerned
about themselves while hanging onto the new day they have.
They really do not want to be alone,
so they reach out to others.
If we are paying attention,
This should remind us how being close to the ones we love
Is so very important,
For no one really wants to be alone,
Not even
Up here on the third floor.
Once in awhile we have the privilege of meeting that
Remarkable soldier,
who through his cheerful good nature and
Endless unconditional thoughtfulness toward others
seems to capture our attention and
throughout the entire hospital,
Brings contentment and joy to everyone he encounters
up and beyond the third floor.
When we see those who pass on,
our hearts glorify them for their bravery and commitment,
they gave for our freedom.
So with faith and hope we pray that they, themselves,
Find freedom in heaven, after leaving
the third floor. Amen."

past and present. Without their bravery,
ruthless dictators and evil would rule
and our freedoms would be at risk.

Your fallen loved ones will always be remebered for their honorable spirit...fighting to perpetuate freedom in America and throughout the world. I wish there were more people like me in America who really understand how
critical a strong military is and what it really means to appreciate our freedoms - which have ONLY been made possible by military victories and by
heroes such as your loved ones. I hope this message will help ease your pain. Please stay positive and stay strong."

"My husband, Steve and I never had the pleasure of actually meeting Eric, however, we did connect via e-mail after we adopted his beloved dog, Hannah. Eric e-mailed us and told us many helpful things about Hannah. He also told us how much he loved her and that it gave him great piece of mind knowing she was in a good home with us.
We have made Hannah part of our family along with our two German Shepherds. She is spoiled rotten, just like she was meant to be.
We keep in constant contact with Eric's mom and step-dad. Through Eric's wonderful dog, we have met many wonderful people, all sharing in the love of Eric.
We hoped some day to return Hannah to Eric. Unfortunately, that day will have to wait longer than we thought. But Hannah and Eric will meet again some day and they will toss the soccer ball around again, like old times.
Steve and I are proud to report that Hannah was recently named National Pet Therapy of the Year 2007! Hannah will be honored in Williamsburg, VA in Oct.
We are so proud of her and this National honor is something Eric would be so proud of too.
Recently Eric's mother gave us Eric's bandana, which Hannah will wear at the awards ceremony. So Eric will be there too!!
God bless Eric, we know you are watching over us. You seem to show up at the just the right times, an eagle gliding in the beautiful blue sky. Your big bear is doing just fine!!"
